Digital storytelling project - add narration to a story

This is part of Challenge #3: Become a STORY NARRATOR WHIZZ. We turned our stories into videos with narration today using a Chrome extension called Screencastify. First we installed the Chrome extension, Screencastify, and then we practised narrating our stories. The extension saves them in our Google Drive. Here is mine:

My digital story - The little girl and her flowerpot

This story is part of Challenge #2: Become a STORY WHIZZ KID. We used stories from the African Storybook website (https://www.africanstorybook.org/) that are free to reuse and change completely, and we recreated them. We kept the art. We did these in Google Slides. Here is mine:

Storybird

I love to write story's on Storybird because it is fun to explore the artworks and use your imagination to write stories. This is my Storybird story called 'Lost in the Wild'. Unfortunately it can't be embedded as an e-book in my blog. I am adding my cover page and my words as evidence that I finished the story.

Here is my story.

The Cat's Secret:

This cat has a lot of secrets and he doesn’t tell any one . You are about to know his secrets.

He eats ice-cream. I know! Whoever knew that a cat could like and eat ice-cream.But that is not the only secret there are lots more where that came from .

He has three ‘friends’ called Molly, Polly and Grey. When he made friends with them he had a good meal afterwards and he never saw them again. You know...he ate them!

The problem is that the owner of those birds was Mr.Blamton .He is the owner of the ice-cream shop where that cat always goes to get his ice-cream.He never even feeds the birds. So that cat ate the birds for their own good  Their owner never fed them.

One of his secrets is that he builds robots .I can't believe it that a cat builds robots! Have you ever seen a cat build a robot? I don’t think so.The problem is that the robot is tiny - it is the size of a bird.

One day Mr.Blamton was selling ice-cream for only R10 (the price had changed to R22 to R10). He needed money. Then he saw someone coming towards him. He found out that it was a flying elephant. You don’t see that every day. He saw it was being held up by balloons . The cat saw that happen as well.

Yes, this cat has many secrets. If there was time I would tell you more.

Endangered animals mini project

We worked in groups of three and did a collaborative mini-project on Endangered Animals. Each person in the group was assigned a different animal to research. We had to put the information into our own words and we also had to add a video ico and link a video to the icon. Here is my group's work.

My Zoomout story

On the 10th April we played the Zoomout Game as part of the blogging challenge.. This is a follow up post. The Zoomout Game is when you add an image to your blog, and start a story in the comment section. Other classmates add to your story in the comment section. Finally we had to create a story from what people said in the comments.

These are the comments made by the people on my blog

1.The wolf got lost in the snow when it was young and now it is trying to find its pack again.

2.The journey has been a long one. Suddenly he sees wolves coming his way.

3. He tries to hide.

4. He was was so white that he could hide in the snow and intruders wouldn't see him.

5. As the pack got closer he moved back. "Snap" went a bear trap and the wolf howled in pain.

6. The pack rushed up and then the one said, "Look it is our long lost cub. Let's free him and get him home to get well again. The wolf was so happy!

This is the story I made from the comments.

The Lost Wolf

This is a story of a lost wolf. It all started when he was young he was wondering around at night in the full moon. One night he saw a group of bears running towards his pack. His mother said he must run and save himself, so he did what he was told. As he got to a safe place he could hear the wailing and the crying of the wolves.

As he grew up he had to hunt for himself and find shelter, but he is still haunted by that night. He  wandered around the snowy forest to see if there was any food and that's when he heard what he was always afraid of...bears. As soon as he heard them he ran and ran and ran far away, but they seemed to follow him. As he got deep into the forest...SNAP! His paw got trapped in one of the bear traps and he yelped in pain. You could see the blood dripping from his leg and he carried on crying.

He could hear the bears paws crunching in the white snow as they took each step closer and closer and closer. Then, something unusual happened. There was something running fast behind the bears and then he saw that it was.....another pack of wolves He was so happy that he started to howl. He saw how they attacked the bears to save him, but after a few seconds the bears ran away and far away until they couldn't be seen. When the lost wolf saw the other wolves he was so happy, but he saw that he couldn't get to them because of the trap. He was sad. Then he saw another unusual thing. He saw a human walking towards him. The human helped him set him free. He bandaged his woulnds and let him go to his new wolf pack.

Blogging challenge: Global issues

This week we learned about Global Problems. We opened two websites so that we could research a problem.
http://www.kidsgoglobal.net/the-issues
https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1AWEcGu1IfVTReSjrinmYPcU_C91Zyrqa-SRBsDjHjP4/edit#slide=id.p
We each chose a different problem and researched it. We added information in two headings:
a) What is the problem
b) What can be done about it.
Our collaborative slideshow follows.

Introducing the Zoom out blog comment game

Let’s play the “Zoom Out” game! It’s fun, easy, and collaborative! Just take a look at the picture below. What do you think is happening? How did that happen? What is the story behind this? I just need one commenter to get the story going, and the rest of us will continue to add ONE comment until his story is told. Just follow these simple guidelines to contribute to our mysterious story:
  • First commenter starts the story in the comments below by writing one sentence (include subject in photo).
  • The next commenter copies the sentence, pastes it in their comment, and adds onto the story by writing the next thing they would see if the picture was “Zoomed Out.”
  • This process continues until the story ends.
I will update my blog with the full story at the end.
